HUNTING

One of the most ancient person’s activities is hunting.

Game hunting, used to feed and provide with clothing turns into sports, and the most modern and harmless forms of hunting are photohunting and photosafari.

Still life in the art often has for topic game catch together with portraying hunting scenes – in pictures and sculptural compositions. A large number of jokes told are about hunting and fishing and when this happens after a tiring hunting passing or after successful fishing, near the camp fire, these moments are unforgettable.

In Bulgaria hunting and fishing becomes organized movement and they are controlled by an act in XIX century. Thanks to the care of game, its population is under control, hunting seasons are fixed; forest and hunting managements, forestries and reserves are created, where small and big game is bred: bears, yak, red deer, roe deer, wild boar, chamois, muflon, cock-of-the-wood, hares, partridges, pheasant, quails etc.

Game trophies, bagged in our country, have won very prestigious international prizes.

Game-breeding-places: Sherba – Varna region and Palamara – Shumen region - for red deer, roe deer, wild boar; Bukovets – Tvarditsa region – for fallow-deer and muflons; Voden – Rasgrad region – for European bison, red deer, roe  deer, bears; Kormisosh – Rhodope region – for bears; Rusalka – muflons; Aramliets – Sofia region – pheasants, ducks, partridges; Dikchan, Troyan, Veliko Tarnovo; Forest managements "Rositsa”, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Gabrovo, Svishtov, Sevlievo, Strandzha, Borovitsa, Zhenda, Lovech, Tran etc., Seslav – Kubrat region – for pheasants, ducks; Klokotnitsa – Haskovo region – for rock partridges. Fishing managements – carps – Nikolaevo and Mechka – Russe region; trouts – Nastan, Devin, Zlatna Panega; silver carp, grass, bream, pike, freshwater catfish – artificial lakes, the Danube, rivers, swamps, mountain lakes.
